Abby’s House at Western Oregon University is holding events throughout the month of April to increase public awareness about the prevalence and adverse effects of sexual assault, for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Abby’s House is a resource and referral center for a large variety of issues, and is available to persons of any gender.
April 9 – 12
Sexual Violence Awareness Walk
This event will commemorate April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. During this week, there will be signs with information about sexual violence on Monmouth Avenue; sponsored by Sable House and Abby’s House.
April 16, 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Willamette Room of Werner University Center
Sexual Wellness Advocacy Team Workshop (SWAT)
This event, hosted by WOU CASA and Abby’s House, will be an interactive workshop on the topics of sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. The workshop will be presented by SWAT members, who are student educators from the University of Oregon.
April 20, 1 p.m. at the WOU Intramural Fields
Green Dot Game
This is a free game including Sexual Assault Awareness Month information; hosted by WOU Green Dot Club and WOU Lacrosse.
April 24, 5 p.m. in the Willamette Room of Werner University Center
“The Invisible War”
This film is an investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape of soldiers within the United States military. This is hosted by Abby’s House and the Criminal Justice Association.
April 25 to 26, Werner University Center
A Native American Women and Sexual Assault display will be up. This event is sponsored by Abby’s House.
